Employee Spotlight: Robin Azar Tablespoon's New Implementation Consultant
Meet Robin Azar, Tablespoon's brand-new Implementation Consultant. Robin joined the team this summer, and we are very excited to tell you more about her and why she joined Tablespoon.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Sarasota, on the West Coast of Florida. It's a beautiful city lined with white-sand beaches, a vibrant arts community, and no shortage of mouth-watering foods. I spent most of my life there and currently live in the adjacent city of Bradenton with my husband and our three teenage boys. Both areas have seen immense growth in recent years—it's wonderful to be part of such dynamic and evolving communities.
What's your background?
I spent the first 20+ years working in front of the house for various restaurants. However, I left hospitality after graduation to focus on progressing my career with Beall's Inc. After spending several years there developing my accounting foundation and getting my first taste of implementing new technology; I decided to challenge myself further and pivot into fund accounting with Lakewood Ranch Inter-District Authority, an inter-local agency managing the operations of the CDD's and HOA's within its boundaries. During my tenure there, I led multiple software upgrade initiatives and was surprised at how much I enjoyed that type of work! The restaurant gods were calling, however, and in 2022, I was back in food and beverage, managing the accounting team at Oysters Rock Hospitality. My passion for tech went into overdrive when our team was tasked with adding a restaurant management solution to its tech stack. Then, I knew what I wanted to focus on had shifted.
Tell me about your role.
As an Implementation Consultant, my role will involve customizing and deploying Sage Intacct to meet the unique needs of restaurant groups. We will work together to assess their current financial processes, implement enhancements, and ensure they leverage Sage Intacct to its fullest potential for better efficiency and detailed financial reporting. It's a perfect fit, blending my accounting and restaurant operations expertise with my love for solving complex puzzles!
Why did you join Tablespoon?
I joined Tablespoon because it perfectly aligns with my professional values and personal needs. As I was pivoting in my career, joining a group willing to invest in my success was vital. The Tablespoon culture of prioritizing growth through mentorship, work-life balance, and innovation made it a no-brainer.
How has your restaurant experience helped your work with Tablespoon?
The value of my time working in restaurants is immeasurable. In my earlier years, I was shy and somewhat introverted. Restaurants see every personality type, and the interpersonal skills that come from interacting with guests over the years are truly amazing. For Tablespoon, there is the added benefit of having a firsthand understanding of the pace and challenges restaurants face, allowing me to empathize with our client's needs more effectively.
What's your favorite restaurant?
I absolutely love different foods and bold flavors, so this one is tough... Since I can pick only one, it's Tibby's New Orlean's Kitchen in Brandon, Florida. It is a little bit of a drive for us, but oh so worth it! They have all the traditional creole-style dishes, and the ambiance is top-notch. The various rooms are FILLED with New Orleans-inspired art, and we often times find ourselves walking around the restaurant looking at it all while we wait for our food. It's just a fabulous experience all around every time!
